Who We Are

Shaaren Pine
Founder & Executive Director
Screen Shot 2018-06-23 at 9.43.08 PMShaaren brings with her over 10 years of FOH restaurant management experience, as well as several years of business ownership.
After addiction tore her family apart, she became a fierce advocate for those affected by another’s addiction and those battling substance use disorder. Especially in the industry. She is both a Founder and Executive Director of Restaurant Recovery, and believes that change in the industry is possible.
In her free time, she enjoys running, biking, knitting, and advocating for adoptee rights. Her work has appeared in Masala Mommas, Upworthy, and The Washington Post. She also co-authored a book about addiction in the restaurant industry.
She lives in Washington, D.C. with her Al-Anon black belt daughter. Together, they are working on a children’s book about addiction. You can follow her @shaaren.

 

Dave Domzalski
President
Screen Shot 2018-06-23 at 9.46.40 PMIn 2004, David Domzalski jumped ship from a promising career as an acoustical transducer design engineer to wait tables.
21 years of experience in the hospitality industry later, he met a man with a vision to change the way alcohol consumption is perceived, discussed, and treated in the hospitality industry.
Like many of us, he has lost more than one friend in the industry to substance abuse and believes that there is a better way.
Outside of Restaurant Recovery, David currently owns Barmetrix Miami, recently purchasing the territory after working with the company for 10 years.

 

Jack McGarry
Vice President
Screen Shot 2018-06-23 at 9.49.21 PMJack is the co-founder and managing partner at the globally recognised Dead Rabbit in NYC, where he is responsible for bar systems, benchmarking and operations. In addition to the many accolades The Dead Rabbit has won – including two World’s Bests at Tales of the Cocktail – Jack himself was named International Bartender of the Year in 2013. Jack is also managing partner of BlackTail at Pier A, a bar he created with Sean Muldoon.  In 2017 BlackTail was named Best New American Bar at Tales of The Cocktail. Prior to opening The Dead Rabbit, Jack worked at the acclaimed Milk & Honey London and The Merchant Hotel in Belfast, which was named World’s Best Cocktail Bar in 2010.
